Khanye – Rulani Must Make This Wydad Sacrifice

iDiski TV analyst Junior Khanye has congratulated Rulani Mokwena on his move to Moroccan giants Wydad Casablanca.

Mokwena penned a three-year deal with the Reds and Whites after surprisingly being sacked by Mamelodi Sundowns due to an alleged fallout with Sporting Director Flemming Berg, despite winning the DStv Premiership as well as the inaugural African Football League honours.

Khanye revealed that he is delighted for his fellow countryman for the move, however foresees that Wydad will expect him to hit the ground running, and that he may have to reconsider his style of play.

“Compliments to Rulani Mokwena for getting the job but there will be a lot of expectations,” said Khanye on iDiski TV.

“He might have to sacrifice [his playing style] because I don’t think this team will agree to play in departments or even be patient if they score against them. I don’t even think former players and media will be patient as well.

“There are expectations at the club to always be in the Champions League, only this year they didn’t and it’s unusual. There will be high expectation and that’s why I’m saying I’m happy for him but he should have waited a bit.

“I’m happy for him. He is one of the best coaches I have ever seen but there will be challenges in the team in terms of how he wants to play. If they are looking at this as a long term project, yes it’s a good thing they will be patient with the guy. But I don’t think so because they want to play Champions League,” he added.
