Former Cape Town City striker Fagrie Lakay has revealed why he joined Egyptian side Pyramids FC.
The Bafana Bafana striker has completed a move to Egyptian Premier League giants Pyramids FC, putting pen to paper on a deal that will see him stay until June 2024.
The 24-year-old expressed his gratitude to his former boss John Comitis, saying he is the one who blessed him with the move to Egypt.
“It’s always been my goal to leave the country to play outside and like you said, we never expected this, not even me, but I believe it’s a good opportunity for me,” he said on Ultimate Sports Show.
“A couple of days, I still remember speaking to the boss, and he said that he wants me to stay at the club, play for him, and then the next minute, he said, Fagrie I have an opportunity for you and I think it’s good opportunity for you my boy, so everything happened so quickly.
“We have a good relationship with Comitis, so ever since I joined Cape Town City I always told him that it’s my ambition to go and play outside the country, and he said I just need to keep on working hard, and he will help me to do that.
“When this opportunity came, he told me that he thinks it is a good opportunity for me. And for me, personally, I’ve been working for something like this. So, I don’t think it was a difficult decision for me to make.”
