Official: Pyramids Confirm Lakay Deal

Egyptian Premier League side Pyramids have confirmed that they have signed Fagrie Lakay from Cape Town City.

Pyramids, who are third in the EPL, confirmed the deal on Monday, in what is said to be a R15-million transfer, iDiski Times can reveal.

This website had reported on the weekend that Lakay was heading to Egypt, and now the 24-year-old forward will begin the next chapter of his career after making his first international move.

Lakay made his professional debut for Santos at 15, before joining SuperSport United. But his time in Tshwane was hampered by injuries, and it was only during a loan spell at Ajax Cape Town four years ago, he got back on track.

But after returning to SuperSport, he continued to struggle for regular time, and made a brief move to Bidvest Wits, before joining City.

His performances in Cape Town were excellent, and he scored 17 goals in 64 games in all competitions. His form saw him called up by Hugo Broos for Bafana Bafana’s World Cup qualifiers, and also attract Pyramids’ interest.
