Young Africans coach Manqoba Mngqithi has reflected on his side’s victory over fellow South African coach Steve Barker’s Simba SC in the Tanzanian Community Shield.
Yanga earned the chance to contest the trophy after winning the league last season, while Simba qualified as CRDB Federation Cup champions.

Mngqithi’s side secured a convincing victory to hand the coach a perfect start in Tanzania and his first trophy of the season.
The former Mamelodi Sundowns coach believes Yanga dominated the contest and could have won by a bigger margin had they taken their chances.
However, Mngqithi admitted that Simba created some nervy moments towards the end, particularly after his players began giving the ball away cheaply.
“I think we were in control of the game against the first half, we did not take the opportunities we created,” said Mngqithi.
“We were a little bit silly in the final third, which is an area we must improve on. But in my opinion, I think it was a complete dominance.
“There were scary moments in the last stages where we give away the ball too cheap.
“But overall, the boys worked very hard, I’m proud of their work ethic, I’m proud of their intensity, I’m proud of their desire to keep going and I’m proud of them attaching to the tactics.”
