Bayern Munich forward Thomas Muller has questioned Mohamed Salah’s exclusion from the FIFA FIFPro World XI, saying the Egyptian superstar deserves to be in the team.
Salah was a notable absentee from the line-up which was selected by 25 000 professional football players from around the world.
However, Salah’s absence was a big talking point, despite the Liverpool star being one of the most in-form players this season, with Muller now insisting Salah should’ve been there.
“It’s always difficult to choose fairly these teams because everyone has slightly different views,” Müller told MBC Masr TV.
“Mohamed Salah is in great form at the moment and is appreciated by everyone. It’s disappointing that he was not chosen in the World XI, and this may be due to the Euros being played last summer.
“The Euros are of great importance and of course you will find players from Italy [the champions] in the formation.
“It’s a combination of individual and collective success. Usually 20 players can be selected and only four or five of them are worthy. But Salah deserved to be in the formation.”
On Saturday, scored his 150th goal for Liverpool and his 25th of the current campaign.
