Orlando Pirates striker Mohau Nkota believes they can go all the way and win the CAF Champions League but they will have to improve themselves.
Nkota came through the DStv Diski Challenge where he had two good seasons before he was promoted to the first team by Pirates just before the end of last season. Unfortunately, he suffered an injury, but bounced back to get his chance this campaign.
The 20-year-old made his senior debut this season in September in a 1-0 win against Richards Bay. He impressed Jose Riveiro and he was rewarded with a start against SuperSport United where he performed well, the following match against AmaZulu he scored two good goals.
Since then he has not looked back as he scored two crucial goals in the CAF Champion League encounter against Algerian giants CR Belouizdad to claim all three points. Nkota is amongst those fighting for Golden Boot in the CAFCL alongside fellow South Africans Elias Mokwana and Iqraam Rayners.
“We believe we can reach the final, but we need to stay humble and focus on winning every remaining game while improving ourselves,” Nkota told CAF media.
When he was asked if Pirates would outshine Mamelodi Sundowns in this season’s CAFCL since they’ve set the standard very high for South African teams in the competition.
“We’re focused on ourselves, not Sundowns. We already have a star on our badge, and now we want another.
“Our aim is to be the best and achieve our own goals. I think we just need to work on ourselves and remain humble at all times.
