Orlando Pirates defender and vice-captain Mbekezeli Mbokazi as well as Amajita centre-back Tylon Smith have been nominated for the CAF Young Player of the Year award.
Mbokazi, 20, has experienced a meteoric rise after breaking into the first team last season. He soon became a pillar in the Pirates defence and is now even considered a house-hold name in Bafana Bafana, with coach Hugo Broos insisting he needs to go to Europe to reach his maximum potential.

Meanwhile, Smith stared for Amajita at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations, where he was named Player of the Tournament. His fine performances earned the defender a move from Stellenbosch FC to Championship side Queens Park Rangers.
Both were rewarded for their outstanding performances in 2025 with a place on the CAF Young Men’s Player of the Year shortlist.
