Benin head coach Gernot Rohr has named his Benin squad to face South Africa and Lesotho in their opening 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
The former Nigeria head coach took charge of the West Africans in February and is still in search of his first competitive win after four draws and a defeat in five games.
Defeat to Mozambique in the recent 2023 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers saw them miss out on the continental event and a target of reaching an upset in in Group C is now the target for the veteran German tactician.
They open up their campaign against Bafana Bafana on Saturday, 18 November at Moses Mabhida Stadium before the Lesotho clash at the same venue three days later.
Former Premier League striker Steve Mounie, now in Ligue 1 with Stade Brestois headlines the squad that comprises mostly European-based talents.
The captain has netted 15 senior international goals in 44 appearances since making his debut back in 2015.
