Rulani Mokwena’s Wydad Athletic Club succumbed to their second defeat of the Botola Pro League campaign after going down 2-0 to Club Omnisports Meknes at the Stade d’Honneur on Wednesday evening.
Wydad started the game very well, dictating the tempo and controlling the game and thought they have found the back of the net after 15 minutes when Mbaye Niang scored but the goal was ruled out for offside.

Meknes had the best opportunity in the 43rd minute but could not take their chances in quick succession as the first period ended 0-0.
In the second half, the home side switched up the tempo and were rewarded for their efforts in 57th minute after being awarded a penalty after Wydad defender Oussama Mahrous fouled Zouhir Eddid inside the box. Adnane Berdad stepped up and converted the spot kick to make it 1-0 to Meknes.
Despite Wydad’s superior ball possession, it was the home side again that were ruling the scoreboard after being awarded their second penalty in the 74th minute Wydad goalkeeper Moeti fouled the opposition player. And again, Meknes made no mistake as Anas El Mahraoui scored to make it 2-0 as The Red Castle outfit dropped down to sixth place while COM moved up to 12th spot.
Mokwena’s side are just two points adrift of league leaders Maghreb Fez who are on 13 points.
