Much-Changed Sundowns Move Back Top With Royal AM Scalp

Mamelodi Sundowns moved back to the top of the league with a 2-1 win over Royal AM at Loftus Versfeld on Wednesday evening.

Sundowns technical team led by Manqoba Mnqgithi rung the changes, with Peter Shalulile, Thembinkosi Lorch, Aubrey Modiba, Sphelele Mkhulise, Teboho Mokoena, Divine Lunga, Grant Kekana and Khuliso Mudau in the starting XI.

With eight changes, Sundowns still managed to carve open the visitors and it was no surprise when Mkhulise found the opener inside five minutes, pouncing on some poor defending and slotting home.

Mudau, on his return to the line-up, netted a second while Sbangani Zulu’s stoppage time effort was a consolation for John Maduka’s side who were winless, but unbeaten in the league upon their arrival in the capital city, Tshwane.

The win made it four wins from four league games for Masandawana as they moved past Orlando Pirates, with 10 goals scored and three conceded.
