SA Match Officials Heading To Egypt

Three South African match officials, Luxolo Badi, Abongile Tom and Akhona Makalima will be out in Egypt for the upcoming U20 Africa Cup of Nations.

Not only Amajita that will fly the South African flag at the U20 AFCON that is set to kickoff end of this month in Egypt, but three match officails also.

The experienced Badi and Makalima has been selected to be match officials, meanwhile experienced Tom will be in the Video Assistant Refereeing (VAR) department.

The three match officails are expected to leave the country on Thursday to Egypt and they will be attending refereshment training before the tournament kick start on the 27th of April.

In recent international events South Africa always had match officials choseen to be officiating in the tournament.

In the previous tournament we have witnessed Tom, Makalima and Zakhele Siwela flying the South African flag. Makalima was also in FIFA Women’s World Cup.

The upcoming FIFA Club World Cup have appointed 35 referees, 58 Assistant referees and 24 Video Match Officials, no match official from South Africa this time around where Mamelodi Sundowns represent the nation as one of the four African clubs who qualified.
