Mamelodi Sundowns and Al Ahly SC confirmed their starting lineups for this afternoon’s African Football League blockbuster encounter at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
The first semi-final of AFL will kickoff this afternoon in what is known to be a African derby. Sundowns have been in top form so far this season despite losing out on two trophies in a space of a month.
The DStv Premiership champions have a chance to put a smile on their supporters faces by clinching the inaugural AFL title. Downs defeated Angolan giants Petro de Luanda to reach the semifinals stage.
The Egyptian champions are coming to this massive encounter after defeating Simba SC on away-goal rule following 2-2 draw in Tanzania and a 1-1 draw in Egypt.
There has been drama already coming to the encounter after Masandawana decided to play the home fixture 15h00 like they normally do but that left a bitter taste to the Red Devils.
These two sides faced each other 10 times in the last five years. Masandawana claimed three wins including a big one in Egypt, Al Ahly also claimed three, they were all on Egyptian soil.
These two sides will face each other in a two-leg encounter. The second leg will be played on Tuesday in Egypt.
