Zamalek SC were crowned CAF Super Cup champions after beating bitter rivals Al Ahly SC 4-3 on penalties.
Percy Tau started his third successive match after netting a brace against Gor Mahia in the CAF Champions League first leg of their second preliminary round clash.
The Bafana Bafana international started alongside Wassam Abou Ali and Hussein El Shahat upfront. The Red Devils took the lead inside the 44th minute via a penalty which was converted by Wassam Abou Ali after a long VAR check by the referee.
Tau completed 86% accurate passes before being substituted in the 66th minute and replaced by Taher Mohamed.
Zamalek kept on pushing for the equaliser but Al Ahly remained solid at the back not, allowing The White Knights to sniff a chance of a goal.
But in the 77th minute, Zamalek found the equaliser through Nasser Mansi after Omar Gaber played a good cross inside the box.
Al Ahly nearly regained the advantage after El Shaahat took a shot from outside the box but Mohamed Awad was equal to the task as he saved the shot.
After 90 minutes of football, both sides couldn’t be separated and the match had to be decided on penalties.
The game was decided by penalties and Al Ahly players Attiat Allah and Wasaam Abou Ali missed their spot-kicks, while Zamalek scored all four to be champions.
