13 Players Dropped From Bafana

After Hugo Broos has announced his final 23-man squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers, here are the 13 players he cut from his selection.

Broos, who guided South Africa to their first medal at the Africa Cup of Nations since 2002, had used an experimental squad in the previous international break, but has now returned to more of his regulars.

However, he’s made seven changes in comparison to his AFCON squad, with Siyabonga Ngezana, Relebohile Mofokeng and returnee Lyle Foster the standout new faces.

But he’s also had to cut several players from his preliminary list, with both Kaizer Chiefs stars Bruce Bvuma and Given Msimango dropping out once again.

In addition, he cut four Orlando Pirates players in Innocent Maela, Thabiso Monyane, Evidence Makgopa and Tapelo Xoki.

Below are all 13 players who were cut:

  • Bruce Bvuma
  • Innocent Maela
