Polokwane City winger Oswin Appollis said his failed transfers in the off-season were mentally challenging but needed to focus to remain part of Bafana Bafana.
Appollis, 23, was subject of transfer talks with Esperance Sportive de Tunis, MC Alger and Kaizer Chiefs but saw all three moves fall through.

While he’s yet to find the net for Rise and Shine this season, his performances have remained consistent and has managed to retain his place in the national team.
He’s started all five of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers with two goals and three assists as they top Group K going into the final fixture against South Sudan on Tuesday.
“It was very difficult but at the end of the day, if I don’t perform, I wouldn’t be called to the national team,” he said.
“So, I had one thing in my mind: to continue working and being on the national team because if I didn’t work or score, I wouldn’t be here.”
Appollis will be looking to continue this trajectory with two more windows before the continental showpiece in Morocco next year.
And with the next fixture in his hometown of Cape Town, he stated it’s the first time he can remember the national team in the Mother City since 2010, offering excitement to see his family and them watching him play in Bafana colours for the first time.
When it comes to his future, Appollis, who was once close to a move to Ajax Amsterdam during his youth days, still harbours hope of moving abroad.

“I’ve been thinking [about my future] lately, everyone’s goal is to go to Europe one day and hopefully I’ll get my opportunities one day you know,” he stated.
The diminutive midfielder will be aiming to shine once more for potential suitors when they face off against the Central African side at the DHL Stadium tomorrow (18h00).
