Bafana B Suffer COSAFA Cup Title Heartbreak

Bafana Bafana B missed out COSAFA Cup glory after going down 3-0 to defending champions Angola in the final at the Free State Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

It took 24 minutes for a real chance at goal as the hosts hit the crossbar through Ime Okon’s header.

The Sable Antelopes were however the ones who broke the deadlock in the 43rd minute through Laurindo Aurelio Depu’s powering header from a set-piece to make it 1-0.

In the 47th minute, Okon was in the thick of the action once again and nearly equalised, but his shot agonisingly missed the target.

The defending champions proved just why they have been consistent in the tournament as Depu got his brace in the 62nd minute, tapping in from close range and give Angola a 2-0 lead.

Boitumelo Radiopane unleashed a ferocious shot from inside the box in the 68th minute but Dominic was up to the task to keep the scores unchanged.

It was game, set and match when Milson converted a beautiful free kick from the edge of the box in the 81st minute to hammer the home side 3-0.

The win for the Black Antelopes means they have now equalled South Africa’s COSAFA title wins (5).
