Orbit College coach Pogiso Makhoye believes that his team are still in the playoff race, despite starting with two goalless draws.
Orbit drew at home against Casric Stars midweek, before holding Cape Town City in Cape Town on the weekend, and will have a week’s break before facing Casric again next weekend.
While they are currently top of the playoff table with 2 points, they have played twice, while their opponents are both on 1 point after one game.
When asked by iDiski Times whether Makhoye’s concerned by their inability to score in either game, the coach said it is a worry but feels that getting one goal will change that fortune.
“We have to change it,” he replied.
“I was saying to the boys, especially after the draw against Casric, to say, these playoffs are going to be very difficult, because we are not a conceding team. If you can check the stats also, we conceded only 19 goals over 30 games.
“So, what we just need is match sharpness, especially in front of goals. I think we just need one win, especially one goal. I think it will change everything. But with the effort that the boys are putting I’m happy.
“But we’re short that match sharpness, especially in terms of finishing our chances or creating more chances.”
Makhoye has targeted the Casric game as a must-win.
“I think next week, Saturday, the match sharpness will be back,” he continued.
“I think we can go to Solomon Mahlangu and upset Casric, because we are good travellers. I’m not worried about playing away, because we are more motivated, especially when we play away.
“So, I was saying to the boys, even after this game, to say we need the next game. That one is a must-win. We have to go and win that game. So, when we come home, if we don’t get 3 points against Cape Town City, at least a draw, maybe we can make it.”
