Bafana Bafana‘s COSAFA Cup head coach Vela Khumalo has announced his starting line-up for this afternoon’s Group A opener against Mozambique at the Toyota Stadium in Bloemfontein.
Last year, the host nation failed to get beyond the group stages as they finished second on five points. They will however be looking for a better showing this time around with a relatively new side which is dominated by Kaizer Chiefs players and led by Khumalo who recently guided the national U17 side qualify for the U17 FIFA World Cup.
Khumalo was part of the Bafana technical team the last time South African won the regional tournament in 2021 alongside Morena Ramoreboli. The coach admitted he feels pressure to get Bafana on the podium again and to do that his charges have to start by winning their first match.
The host nation also has Zimbabwe who they face on Saturday and Mauritius who they will play next Tuesday with the top sides in the four groups at the tournament advancing to the knockout stage.
This is how Bafana lines-up against the Mambas:
