Bafana Suffer Injury Blow

Bafana Bafana have confirmed that striker Lyle Foster has left the camp due an injury and did not travel to Brazzaville with the rest of the squad.

Foster, 24, started the first meeting between South Africa and Congo Brazzaville, scoring his side’s fourth goal in the 5-0 win.

However, he had to be stretchered off in the 68th minute and the South African Football Association has now confirmed that Foster is out of the second meeting at Stade Alphonse Massamba-Debat de Brazzaville on Tuesday.

“He suffered an injury to his left knee and was subsequently sent to scans for further analysis,” SAFA said via a statement.

“As part of the precautionary measures, Foster did not travel with the team to Brazzaville to allow him to rejoin his English club Burnley for early rehabilitation.”

Bafana Bafana doctor Dr Tshepo Molobi told SAFA.net: “Fortunately, the nature of the injury does not require surgery. However, time has to be afforded to him for proper rehabilitation and this is why he has been ruled out of the match on Tuesday.”
