Bafana Bafana head Coach Pitso Mosimane has called up Tshepang Moremi for the injured Lebohang Maboe in his squad.
The Kaizer Chiefs midfielder picked up an injury in his side’s 0-0 draw with Golden Arrows on Sunday, and Mosimane initially believed he could still form some part of his three-week camp that includes the AFCON qualifiers against Guinea and Eritrea as well as the friendly match in Egypt.

However, scans confirmed that Maboe wouldn’t be able to feature at all during the camp, and as a consequence Mosimane has called up the Orlando Pirates winger instead.
“Dr Tshepo Molobi, the Bafana Bafana team doctor, told www.safa.net that Maboe arrived in camp on Sunday night with an ankle injury and after scans were conducted on Monday, a decision was taken to withdraw him,” a statement read.
“He twisted his ankle while playing for Kaizer Chiefs and after undergoing a scan, he will be ruled out from the current camp and this FIFA window,” Dr Molobi said.
Moremi has featured in seven games for Pirates this season, scoring three goals so far.
He was part of Hugo Broos’ FIFA World Cup squad and featured in the historic 1-0 win over South Korea, setting up Thapelo Maseko’s winner, as well as in the 1-0 defeat to Canada.
