Mamelodi Sundowns goalkeeper Ronwen Williams has been nominated for the FIFA The Best awards as one of the candidates for the World XI.

The nomination comes after Williams was already nominated for the Ballon d’Or Yashine trophy.

Williams is the only player based in Africa among the 11 goalkeeper nominees, but missed out on the selection for The Best Goalkeeper of the Year nominees.

The 32-year-old won the African Football League with Sundowns, and was named the Goalkeeper of the Tournament, he also lifted the DStv Premiership, where he was named Goalkeeper of the Season and PSL Footballer of the Season.

In addition, he played a massive role in Bafana Bafana’s bronze medal at the AFCON where was again named Goalkeeper of the Tournament.

He also won the COSAFA Men’s Goalkeeper of the Year award.
