Nabi On Referee Red Card Decision And Resurgent Maart

Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi has bemoaned the red card decision against Reeve Frosler and lauded the work ethic of captain Yusuf Maart.

In two debatable yellow cards at the start of each half, Reeve Frosler saw his marching orders as early as the 47th minute in Chiefs’ 2-1 win over Richards Bay in Polokwane.

The second bookable offence saw Nkosikhona Ndaba slip and his head made contact with Frosler’s boot who was attempting to clear the ball.

“The referees, I don’t want to make comments, you will see by yourself on the foul? It was not even a foul as the player [Ndaba] slipped and after that, we got a red card,” he said.

“Probably in the whole stadium, only the referee saw that [as a booking]. We won’t talk about the referees or judge further…”

Amidst Chiefs managing to secure a vital three points to move into sixth place ahead of their second game in Polokwane this weekend against Royal AM, one of the positives was the marauding display of captain Maart.

The midfielder has come under immense scrutiny for his inconsistent displays but thrived in a more advanced midfield role on the evening with Sibongiseni Mthethwa alongside him in the six role.

“About Yusuf? He had a great game and the last few weeks he’s trained well and it showed in his performance.”

Maart bagged two assists and secured the Man of the Match award, while Ashley du Preez and Wandile Duba were on the scoresheet in the 2-1 victory against the Natal Richboyz.
