Broos – Andorra Draw Showed Problem Of SA Football

Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos says he was satisfied with the overall performance against Andorra, but says the draw against world number 164 also showed that South Africa has somewhat of a finishing problem.

Bafana faced the European minnows in the FIFA Series in Algeria and came from a goal down to draw the match. Elias Mokwana scored his first Bafana goal on debut after a howler by Ricardo Goss had allowed Andorra an early lead.

After the match, Broos said he saw some players who impressed him despite the draw.

“Even witht hat little present we gave to Andorra today we could’ve won the game,” he told SAFA media.

“I’m satisfied, not with the result, I tried to win today, but I’m satisfied with the performance of this team – a totally new team and I’m certainly satusfied about some players.

“They’ve given me much satisfaction and I think they are guys on which we can count on in the next games by in June and by the end of the year.”

Broos also insisted that the game against Andorra showed Bafana are missing a top goal scorer, who can put easy chances away in his sleep.

“It was also the goal for us to give players that chances to have experience, first of all and again I’m satisfied, really satidfied,” he added.

“I think we showed again, shall I say the problem of South African football, we don’t rally have that scorer, the guy with one chance scores a goal.

“If you see the six or seven chances we’ve had today and we only scored once. This game you always [have] to win if you have more quality in front of goal than you win this game.

“This is only a little thing I’m not satisfied with, there were a few guys who satisfied me a lot.”

Bafana will now face hosts Algeria on Monday.
