Bafana Bafana coach Hugo Broos has called up Kaizer Chiefs centre-back Given Msimango to replace the injured Grant Kekana.
Broos had trimmed down a 36-man preliminary squad to 23 names last week, with Msimango one of two Chiefs players – the othe being Bruce Bvuma – being dropped.
On Monday, though, SAFA confirmed that the Belgian tactician called up Msimango to replace Kekana due to injury.
“Bafana Bafana camp in full swing on day 1, with all players present. There is one change to the initial squad announced by Coach Hugo Broos. Due to injury, Grant Kekana has been released and Given Msimango has reported for duty,” SAFA stated.
Bafana will take on Nigeria on 7 June before hosting Zimbabwe on 11 June at Free State Stadium. Both games are massively important for the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualification, with Broos targeting “at least four points”.
