Broos Confirms Pirates Star’s Bafana Replacement

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos has confirmed that Polokwane City midfielder Ndamulelo Maphangule has replaced Patrick Maswanganyi for the 2026 FIFA World Cup Qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin.

Bafana hosts Likwena on Friday, 21 March at the new Peter Mokaba Stadium and four days later face Benin away in Ivory Coast.

The 25-year-old replaces ‘Tito’ who had to be withdrawn due to injury after not featuring for Orlando Pirates in their 2-1 win over Mamelodi Sundowns at FNB Stadium on Sunday.

Maphangule reported to camp with the rest of his national teammates at the Ranch just outside Polokwane.

Meanwhile, Aubrey Modiba has not yet arrived in camp due his wife giving birth on Monday afternoon but he will join the team later on Monday.
