Broos On Amajita Exploits And Hope For Bafana Future

Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos is hopeful the current national U20 squad is developed well enough to make it to the senior national team.

Amajita has cruised to the final of the U20 Cosafa Cup with several impressive displays, which has also sealed their place at the U20 Africa Cup of Nations tournament next year.

There’s been several standout players in the squad, with five, including head coach Raymond Mdaka making the team of the group stage announced by Cosafa Media.

“You see a few players that we’re saying ‘oh, maybe we have to keep an eye on them’, but I said it when I arrived here, to the studio, I said to my team manager [Vincent Tseka], they’re doing well and in the final, [qualified for AFCON],” he said.

“But if we stop now, that’s not the right thing to do, so every FIFA break, you have to call them also, arrange a camp, organise [something], work with them and then you can progress but if after the tournament they wait until the next game or AFCON?!

“No [that can’t happen] so let’s hope that what we’re doing now and the good things that’s happening now, we can go on and there’s a follow-up of this squad, it can help for players for U23 and after that; Bafana Bafana.”

South Africa will meet Zambia in the final of the TotalEnergies CAF Under-20 Africa Cup of Nations / COSAFA Qualifier on Saturday.
