Burnley Provide Update On Foster

Burnley head coach Scott Parker has confirmed Lyle Foster is nearing a return to action after the injury he suffered in October while on international duty.

Foster, 24, suffered a knee injury in the 5-0 win over Congo Brazzaville at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium in which he scored.

“Fortunately, the nature of the injury does not require surgery. However, time has to be afforded to him for proper rehabilitation,” Bafana Bafana team doctor Tshepo Molobi said at the time as he returned to England and withdrew from the squad.

Foster has since missed eight consecutive games in the Championship for the promotion-chasing Clarets who have struggled for goals this season, as Benin international Andreas Hountondji has no goals in eight games and Jay Rodrigues has one in 12.

Foster’s return is said to be crucial for their hopes and his own, having scored only one goal with one assist thus far, since their relegation to the second-tier.

“We’re getting closer to that. Some better signs ahead regarding players coming back,” he said about their injuries, as per Burnley Express.

“Lyle (Foster) as well, on the grass, but still a little bit away. (Aaron) Ramsey, Joe Worrall are all progressing in the right way so really pleased regarding that.”

With the next FIFA International break only in March 2025, where South Africa face Lesotho and Benin, the former AS Monaco striker will be aiming to get back to form and full fitness.
