FCSB head coach Lucian Filip has revealed that defender Siyabonga Ngezana has been excluded from the Bafana Bafana final squad for the upcoming FIFA World Cup in North America.

Ngezana has had a great career since arriving at FCSB where he helped the side to win their first league title and claimed Defender of the Season award in that very same season.

The 28-year-old even earned his place in the Bafana squad, went on to play AFCON before representing the country in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers. But the injury has affected Ngezana in a way that he played just over 2700 minutes.

After FCSB’s goalless draw against Unirea Slobozia, Filip revealed to Antena Sport that Ngezana missed out on the FIFA World Cup Bafana squad which is set to be announced by Hugo Broos later this month.

“No, [Siyabonga Ngezana was not called up to the World Cup]. He is disappointed, but that’s life, football doesn’t end here,” Filip told the Antena Sport.

“He has to respect his club, because of the club he was in the national team’s attention. I hope he will be present at the next Championship.”
