Kaizer Chiefs and Bafana Bafana legend Doctor Khumalo says South Africa would miss Hugo Broos should he really decide to leave Bafana Bafana.
On Monday, a report from Tunisia sent shockwaves through the local football fraternity after it was claimed that Broos is “very close to agreeing a deal” with the Tunisian Football Federation.
The report by Mosaique FM further stated that Broos has been identified as the major candidate to become the next Tunisia coach, but he would still need to sort out his settlement with South African Football Association.
However, all reactions coming out of SAFA and the Bafana camp have rubbished those rumours, with Bafana team manager Vincent Tseka labelling it as “fake news” on social media platform X.
Khumalo, meanwhile, insisted that – if the reports were true – it would be sad to lose the Belgian tactician now that things have finally come together for him and his team and a real progression has been visible.
“We would miss him when he’s gone,” he said on SoccerZone.
“It finally looks like we’re going somewhere, we’re going where he wants.
“We’re no longer talking about development but progression, the national team is progressing.
“The boys that came onboard for these two friendly games – we don’t know what will transpire against Algeria – but against Andorra I was happy with 60-70% pf the players.”
Bafana return to action on Tuesday evening when they face Algeria at the Nelson Mandela Stadium at 23:00 (SAST).
