Bafana Bafana stars continued to thrive abroad with Burnley star Lyle Foster bagging a goal against English Premier League giants Manchester United.
It was another exciting weekend for South African players abroad, with many continuing to feature regularly.
Lyle Foster, who is the primary striker for Burnley, netted an important goal for his side during a 3-2 away league defeat against Manchester United at Old Trafford. This was his first goal this season, after he had been rested in their last game against Derby County in the EFL Cup Round of 32.
Also in England, Luke Le Roux played 27 minutes for Portsmouth in their 1-0 triumph over Preston in the SkyBet English Championship.
Meanwhile, Ime Okon, who’s in the Bafana squad for the FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Nigeria, played his fourth consecutive league game for Hannover 96. He was taken off in the second half after receiving a yellow card in a 2-1 victory over Holstein Kiel in the German Bundesliga 2.
In Romania, Siyabonga Ngezana played a full 90 minutes for FCSB in their 2-2 league draw against CFR Cluj. The former Kaizer Chiefs defender played his seventh game in the league and seemingly remains one of the key players for Elias Charalambous’ side.
In the USA MLS, Bongokuhle Hlongwane played a full 90 minutes in Minnesota United’s 1-1 draw against Portland Timbers.
Yusuf Maart, who recently moved abroad, featured for 85 minutes in Reid’s 3-1 win over LASK. In the same match, Antonio van Wyk was introduced at start of the second half, playing until the final whistle.
In the Saudi Pro League, it was a debut to remember for Mohau Nkota, who announced his arrival at Al-Ettifaq by scoring in their 2-1 win against Al-Kholood. Meanwhile, Bafana Bafana winger Elias Mokwana also made his debut for his new side Damac, featuring as a late substitute in a 1-1 draw against Al Hazem.
