How African Giants Failed In Broos Persuit

Tunisia’s pursuit of Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos failed due to his demands, according to a member of the Tunisian Football Association (FTF).

Back in February, after Broos led South Africa to bronze at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations, Tunisia looked to the veteran Belgian coach as a prime target.

It was a case of impressing the Carthage Eagles from close quarters, having been in the same group.

While Broos reaffirmed his commitment and denied the links, speculation was also about a potential move to Algeria.

The move eventually went cold for the successor of Jalel Kadri and since then they turned to Faouzi Benzarti who lasted four games before Kais Yaâkoubi moved into a caretaker role at present.

“Hugo Broos, we wanted him. The problem is that he wanted to come with his entire staff and it will cost us 2.9 million euros per year. We don’t have that budget,” Chedli Rahmani a member of the FTF normalisation committee said on Radio Mosaqiue on Tuesday.

The FTF has been in a state of disarray in recent times since former President Wadie Jary was jailed in a corruption case.
