SAFA president Danny Jordaan has provided an update on the future of Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos.
Jordaan was speaking during the South African national team’s arrival from the 2026 FIFA World Cup at OR Tambo International Airport on Thursday morning.
Bafana Bafana were eliminated in the Round of 32, bowing out of the global showpiece after reaching the knockout stages for the first time under the guidance of the Belgian coach.
Prior to the World Cup, Broos had indicated that he would step away from coaching after the tournament, however, during the tournament Broos hinted that he could make a u-turn on his decision and stay on longer.
Jordaan said SAFA will first assess Bafana’s performance at the World Cup and engage the 74-year-old tactician regarding his future before making a decision.
“We’re going to evaluate our performance in the tournament, we’ll talk about it,” said Jordan, as per SABC Sport.
“We’re going to tell you of the next phase of the South African football and we’re hopeful that we’ll continue on this upward trend.
“We need to talk to Hugo Broos and we will let you know after that conversation. But to all of you here, thanks for coming.”
