Kaizer Chiefs midfielder Lebogang Maboe believes Pitso Mosimane will succeed as the new Bafana Bafana head coach with his vast knowledge on the league and South African players.
Mosimane was announced as the successor to Hugo Broos on Tuesday, marking his second official stint, 14 years since the last ended.
Having secured over 20 titles with Mamelodi Sundowns, Al Ahly and Al Ahli Jeddah since – the 62-year-old will now be aiming to secure success at national team level, which Maboe feels is possible.
“It’s a very… firstly congratulations to coach Pitso, I’m very happy for him, he’s going to do so well in the national team,” Maboe said.
The Chiefs star played under Mosimane during their time at Sundowns, which was a period of domestic dominance for Masandawna where he won a league title in each of their four seasons together.
“He’s a coach that knows this league so well, he know how South African players are, he will really do well in the national team,” Maboe concluded.
Maboe will be aiming to sustain his impressive form with Amakhosi for a potential recall to the national team, with the last of his 17 caps arriving in 2021, Hugo Broos first official match as head coach.
