Mokoena – It’s Been A While

Bafana Bafana midfielder Teboho Mokoena could not hide his delight after a Man of the Match display in their 5-0 win over Congo Brazzaville in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.

Mokoena, who was left out of the Mamelodi Sundowns squad for five consecutive games returned to the field of play for Bafana, netting two goals to set the tone of the massive win at the Nelson Mandela Bay Stadium on Friday evening.

“I feel very excited about today’s game, I think the team played very well. I am happy I also got a chance to play and score goals it’s been a while since I last scored,” he told SABC Sport after winning the Man of the Match award.

“I must give credit to the people of PE for coming out in numbers and filling up the stadium, it really boosted us and they [the fans] must come every game.

“It will help us a lot [winning and qualifying against Congo on Tuesday] and for the games in November because we will be playing without any pressure and knowing that we have already qualified for Morroco.”

South Africa could seal their spot at the 2025 AFCON with two games to spare should they beat Congo away from home on Tuesday.
