Bafana Bafana winger Elias Mokwena says he’s grateful for the praise he’s received from Doctor Khumalo.
Khumalo stated after Mokwana’s first two caps for the senior national team that Hugo Broos has found a new ‘diamond’ for the country.
This after his excellent goal in the 1-1 draw with Andorra and assist against Algeria for Iqraam Rayners deflected goal in the 3-3 draw at the Nelson Mandela Stadium.
It showcased his recent form with Sekhukhune United that’s made him one of the hottest properties in the domestic game, where Babina Noko slapping a R35-million price tag for any interested suitors.
“I’m grateful, I’m grateful. It shows that there’s something I’m doing well and I just have to continue doing it and improve where I need to improve,” he said when asked by iDiski Times about Khumalo’s high praise.
Mokwana said it was great to get his first minutes under Broos in the squad, having previously been part of national team camps but not making his official debut.
“Ah I’m excited, I’m excited. It was a great camp, we played with many experienced players, I learnt a lot from them and I was grateful to get a goal and an assist,” Mokwana added.
“It was nice, the senior players helped me to adjust to the games and I managed to play well I think.”
Mokwana has scored four goals with as many assists in 28 games across all competitions this season.
