Kaizer Chiefs head coach Nasreddine Nabi says he respects Bafana Bafana head coach Hugo Broos’ decision to snub Thabo Cele for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
South Africa takes on Lesotho in Polokwane before facing Benin in Ivory Coast and after announcing his 23-man squad, questions arouse why Broos did not select Thabo Cele, who has been a standout player for Amakhosi despite their poor form.
Broos said Cele will be considered in the future however Chiefs as a team hasn’t really impressed him.
Nabi also said after his side’s 2-0 league loss to Richards Bay that he respects Broos ’decisions.
“We have to respect the choices and the decisions of the national team coach,” said Nabi in the post- match press conference carried on Ayanda Nyuswa’s YouTube channel.

“[Because] he’s the one who makes the choices which doesn’t take away our feeling that Thabo Cele is a very good player.
“And we hope that in the future he will go back to the national team. We know that by working hard that time will come.”
