Orlando Pirates hammered SuperSport United to move third while Mamelodi Sundowns returned to winning form with a narrow win over AmaZulu in Sunday’s DStv Diski Challenge ties.
The Buccaneers fell behind as early as the 11th minute courtesy of of Siviwe Magidigidi before Tshepo Mhlambi equalized for Pirates after half an hour. Moses Mphekgoane then made it 2-1 for Joseph Makhanya just before the interval.

It was 3-1 thereafter with in-form Siphamandla Msezana finding the back of the net. With six minutes remaining on the clock, Mehluleli Maphumulo sealed the three points, making it 4-1, but it was too little too late even though Keabetswe Khonyane pulled one back for United to make it 4-2.
Pirates are now just five points behind league leaders Kaizer Chiefs with eight games remaining while Amakhosi still have 10 matches to go.

After a three-match winless run, Masandawana recorded a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Usuthu with Thapelo Maseko netting a brace in the first half. AmaZulu pulled one back shortly after the break, but the hosts held on for an important victory.
