Bafana Bafana‘s CHAN side coach Molefi Ntseki has dedicated the side’s qualification for the 2025 edition of the tournament mainly to the players that availed themselves during the qualifying rounds.
Victor Letsoalo and captain Neo Maema scored in Tshwane to seal qualification with a 2-1 aggregate score over Malawi in the 2nd leg of the qualifiers on Sunday. The tournament meant for locally based players only will be hosted in Kenya, Tanzania and Uganda in three months.
Bafana qualified with players who are mostly not enjoying game time at their clubs and those even without clubs and coach Ntseki acknowledged the fans, the Association and importantly the players who did duty for the country.
“I think this is for the country,” said Ntseki.
“This is for SAFA, this is for all the players that were part of the 1st leg against Egypt, the 2nd leg against Egypt, the 1st leg against Malawi, and now the 2nd leg that came out to be victorious and qualified the country to go and play in the CHAN tournament.
“So, I think the most important thing was for us to call up all the players that we have today in the camp, even though the first group of players that we sent call-ups could not make it in the first leg against Malawi.
“But I think those who reported for camp did their best and then we managed to play the game until the 87th minute which our game management in terms of our concentration levels dropped a bit and then we conceded from a set play.
“But today, I think we are very resolute in terms of our tactical plan the application of each individual player who was on the pitch. So, we really say thanks to the players and the whole technical team, and SAFA as a whole.”
