Bafana Bafana head coach Pitso Mosimane wants to see his side being ruthless in front of goal to secure big wins after their narrow 2-1 victory over Guinea at Orlando Amstel Arena on Saturday.
Ime Okon and substitute Samukele Kabini netted on either side of the half to hand Mosimane his first win as Bafana coach in his second spell and get his 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying campaign off to a perfect start.
Speaking on SABC Sport in his post-match presser, ‘Jingles’ was happy to walk away with maximum points at home but urged his players to be ruthless in front of goal as it could come back to bite them in future.
“We played well especially in the first half. The message was there – we pressed hard, we pressed at the top, we pressed there, we stole a few balls.
“But you know our South Africa problem – we don’t finish the chances and then you know what’s gonna happen later when you play against these quality teams. They’ll punish you, and they got their chance.
“We are okay right? But we just need to score goals.
“We need to score the chances we create because when you play against all these big nations, they’ll punish you. You will not come back.”
