Bafana Bafana forward Luther Singh has explained why he stayed for such a long time in Europe.
Singh has been in Europe since the beginning of his football career in 2015 when he left Stars of Africa to join Swedish side GAIS. The 29-year-old has since gone to play in Portugal for Braga’s reserve side before joining Chaves on loan.
The Bafana international spent five years there before joining Danish side FC Copenhagen in the 2022/23 season. Singh didn’t have much game time as he was a free agent before joining Cyprus side AEL Limassol.
Since his arrival at Limassol, Singh has been a very important player having played 68 matches scored 12 goals, and had 22 assists in all competitions. The left-winger explained what has kept him in Europe for over a decade.
“Personally, I can’t answer what the coaches and what the teams want, but for me, I just felt I went to Europe at a young age, and I have ambitions and I have goals that I want to achieve. And until now, I haven’t achieved those goals yet,” Singh told the media.
“So, I keep trying, I keep going, and I can’t give up. Giving up is not in my system, is not in my life. So, I keep going after my dream, and yeah, I’m just grateful and honoured every year to be able to stay in Europe as long as I did.
“And you never know what the future holds, so I keep doing my job in this moment and just living in the present, not living the past or knowing what tomorrow will bring.
“No, so I’m just living now what I have, and I make sure that I take care of my job.”
