Banyana Settle In Morocco

Defending champions Banyana Banyana have arrived and settled in their base in Morocco ahead of the start of the Women’s Africa Cup of Nations tournament next week.

Banyana travelled to the North African country this past Tuesday and landed on Wednesday, with less two players less as Jermaine Seoposenwe and Kgaelebane Mohlakoana will join the squad a little later from their clubs.

South Africa will start the defense of their crown against the Black Queens of Ghana on Monday, 7 July in Group C, followed by the match against Tanzania on 11 July before they conclude the group stage against Mali on July 14.

Banyana coach Ellis says everyone is excited to get started.

“It was a long, tiring travel with a delayed flight, but eventually we got on board, stayed over in Accra and arrived here,” Ellis told Safa.net.

“Nicely settled in, very welcoming and today is our first training session. It’s a new place but it’s still Morocco, where we arrived at and I think it’s very exciting to be here, to finally get started, there’s a big tournament coming up that we need to be ready for.

“So, we’re really looking forward to the upcoming days where we will continue with our preparation. Everyone is in good spirits and really excited to be here and work starts now.”
