Mamelodi Sundowns continued their winning run at the top of the Betway Premiership with a 2-0 win over Richards Bay at the King Zwelithini Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Miguel Cardoso has now won four games since his appointment as head coach, across all competitions, with all four victories by 1-0 scorelines; Raja AC, Stellenbosch FC, AmaZulu and now the Natal Richboyz.
But the form of Sundowns since their 1-0 loss to Polokwane City in the league has been rather consistent with 12 goals scored and none conceded in six league games played.
Artur Sales, who has had several question marks around him since his record R65-million transfer found the net, which was his first goal from open play as he slotted home the pass from compatriot Lucas Ribeiro Costa in the opening half.
The home side showed plenty of fight and at times, looked the better side, but Sundowns didn’t need to reach their fluent best with a starting XI that was once again rotated as they look to ease the workload in the congested January fixture schedule coming up.
Sundowns move six points clear of Orlando Pirates who have two games in hand and will face Magesi in Polokwane on Sunday afternoon.
