Mamelodi Sundowns midfielder Marcelo Allende has spoken about the team’s return to the top of the standings amid stiff competition from Orlando Pirates.
The Brazilians secured a 1-0 victory over Polokwane City on Wednesday in a catch-up fixture, earning maximum points on the road.

Allende, who netted the decisive goal, emphasized the importance of the win and admitted it was a difficult away match.
“This type of pitch, these types of opponents, always tough playing away,” said Allende.
“But we knew the goal would come at any moment. I’m proud of my team, all of them, victory was so important.”
Allende maintains that being top of the table is the rightful place for Sundowns, who are aiming to secure their ninth successive league title as reigning champions.
“Pressure? It’s just the job we have to do in any pitch, anywhere we’re always looking for the three points,” he added.
“We’re on top where we need to be, where Sundowns deserve to stay. I’m happy that we got the three points.
“We need to take it one game at a time, the most important one is the next one – the Polokwane game at Loftus.”
