Stellenbosch FC head coach Steve Barker feels like Kaizer Chiefs wasn’t going to score if they didn’t commit the mistakes they committed.
Stellies suffered a 2-1 defeat away from home at the hands of Chiefs after taking the lead in the first half before Amakhosi equalized in the same stanza.

The Cape Winelands side started the game well and looked to be in control of the first few minutes of the game before Chiefs got their playing system right and put them under pressure.
Barker was left unhappy after the game as he believed that Chiefs didn’t deserve to score the two goals but only scored because of the mistakes Stellies committed.
“I don’t have too much to say, I think the first 20 minutes we started really well and got our deserved goal and we were causing problems, the shape they had they made a couple of adjustments,” Barker told the media.
“I think they finished the first half a little bit stronger than we did but it was in our own doing. We were in total control of the match, but a couple of sloppy passes and a couple of errors led to a corner, then we conceded, and obviously at home, the crowd gets behind them, and they get a bit of momentum.
“They finished the half on top of us, 1-1 at half-time was a fair reflection and again I don’t think Kaizer Chiefs would’ve been good enough to score against us had we not made errors, which basically led to their first goal and the second goal and thereafter we tried to get ourselves back in the game.

“Last 15, or 20 minutes it became a stop-start, with a lot of cramps, a lot of slowing the game down, and a lot of chaotic opposition staff members on the bench creating the chaos that was needed for them to see out the game.
“Ultimately a bit disappointing that we didn’t get what we came for, just lessons to be learned and to just get back home and recuperate get over the loss, and focus on the big game that we have this coming Sunday.”
