Barker Reveals How He Discovered Jali

Barker spent over five years at AmaTuks as the head coach leading them to their first first ever professional final in 2009.

During his time at AmaTuks, the club produced the likes of Phenyo Mongale who went on to join Orlando Pirates, and Mthokozisi Yende who joined Kaizer Chiefs after the Nedbank Cup final.

Speaking with SuperSport Barker explained how Jali ended up at Tuks and what did it take for them to bring him at the time.

“He was scouted through a programme called Coca-Cola many years back and then they to the High-Performance Centre in the University Of Pretoria where I was working at the time,” Barker explained.

“And during that Coca-Cola football stars, I heard there was a player called Andile Jali who had all the attributes to become a top class footballer.

“After watching him through that series we signed him and I guess he gone on and had a really good career.”
