Basadien Breaks Silence On THAT Wonder-Goal

Stellenbosch FC left-back Fawaaz Basadien has broken his silence on his audacious goal against Cape Town City in the Cape Town derby in September.

Basadien’s strike from almost 60 yards out was the moment of the game when Stellies thrashed their neighbours 3-0 in the Betway Premiership, which then went on to win goal of the month for September.

The 28-year-old Bafana Bafana international spoke to iDiski Times editor Rob Delport about the goal in edition 186 of the newspaper where he said he knew when he hit the ball that something magical was going to happen.

“That goal will definitely stay in the memory forever!” Basadien told iDiski Times.

“I was looking to make a pass but then realised that I was the furthest attacking player. I also noticed the position of [Darren] Keet and just made sure of the execution with the right power.

“The moment it left my boot, I knew it was going to be something special.”
