Bvuma Discusses New Chiefs Signings Impact Ahead Of SSU Clash

Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma says their January transfers have shown why they were signed from day one of their respective arrivals.

Bvuma, 29, started the season as third choice behind Brandon Petersen and Fiacre Ntwari and has now managed to make the number one spot his own in recent weeks.

With five clean sheets in 11 games and only seven goals conceded, the academy product is putting his hand up after a period of uncertainty in the position for Amakhosi.

And within that, a decent run of form has developed with new signings Thabo Cele, Glody Lilepo and Tashreeq Morris at the forefront of the team’s transformation, which was duly noted by Chippa United boss Thabo September after they were thrashed 3-0 this weekend.

“I think they settled in very well, Morris, Lilepo and Thabo, these are good players, international players, I feel like they have shown from the word go why the team has decided to sign them,” Bvuma said.

“I am very happy for them and we’re looking forward to having more games with them and as you saw, they have been helping the team and that’s what we need you know. So we’re helping each other and as I said, they’ve settled in well and we can’t wait to keep going with them.”

Bvuma conceded the return of fans at FNB Stadium and around the country is growing game by game as their performances improve, and they need to continue when they host an unpredictable SuperSport United on Tuesday.

“We have been playing very well, good football, they supporters are coming back to the stadiums and that’s what we need, having them in the stadium pushes us to give more, it pushes us not to give up, and give our best,” Bvuma explained.

“Having their support behind us, helps us to push over the line and continue playing good football and getting good results.

“SuperSport is a big team, we know what they are capable of, they have a very good coach in Gavin, we know it won’t be easy, we played them twice already this season, winning one and losing one – we’re looking forward to it.

“We know what they can do, but we need to focus on what we can do – that’s been working well for us.”

The two sides meet on Tuesday evening at the Calabash (19h30).
