Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper Bruce Bvuma says he is not really bothered that he is one of the most criticised players at the club because he is his own biggest critique.
The 29-year-old has been at Amakhosi since 2017 and has risen through the ranks to number one after Itumeleng Khune’s departure. He has enjoyed more game time than his competitors at the club this season featuring in 17 league matches with eight clean sheets under his belt.

However, with the side enduring indifferent results in the league where they currently sit in eighth spot, the goalkeeper has faced criticism from fans and equally from his former teammate Itumeleng Khune.
The Leratong-born goalminder says he does not get affected because it doesn’t have a bearing on who he is and how he is doing things.
“Every goalkeeper in the world, every goal that we concede every goalkeeper can always look back and say I could have done better and stuff,” said Bvuma.
“So, for me, I take it as it’s positive when you get those criticism because one thing for sure is that before anyone says anything about me, I criticize myself.
“I know that, okay maybe here I should have done better. Here, I should have done this and that. So, I don’t take it personal because at the end of the day, everyone is entitled to their own opinion.

“So, whatever someone says doesn’t have to impact how I feel or how I do things because at the end of the day I work hard I give my best. If my best is not enough it doesn’t mean I need to stop.
“So, when someone says something, it’s okay. It’s their opinion because as I said, as a goalkeeper, every goal you concede I look at myself first before someone says anything. I know very well that okay maybe, if I do this, maybe I would have saved the ball.”
The keeper went on to say he knows that fans criticise him from a place of love hence they are still showing up and filling stadiums when the club plays.
“That’s when you know that all this criticism is coming out of love because they love the team, we love the team as well,” added Bvuma.
“They are saying whatever that they are saying because of the love they have for the team, so it’s okay. As I said, everyone is entitled to their own opinion. So, it’s okay.”
