Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso would not confirm nor deny if centre-back Keanu Cupido was back in training saying there’s a lot he wishes to say but cannot.
Cupido, 28, missed Sundowns’ last two league matches including the 3-2 loss to TS Galaxy on their final day owing to a shoulder injury picked up in the 1-1 draw against Kaizer Chiefs last week.
The result of the game in Mbombela has also dealt their defense of their league title a blow though they remained top of the log. They are three points from Orlando Pirates in second place who have two games in hand.
Cardoso claimed after the Chiefs draw that his defender’s shoulder was broken however before the match with the Rockets there were pictures of the former Cape Town City man in training circulating on social media.
When asked if he could confirm whether the player was indeed back in training, the Portuguese mentor would not give a straight answer only saying he knew it would be difficult to reach the date of the CAF Champions League final with all the players in their best conditions.
“I will not tell whatever will happen not because I would like,” said Cardoso on SuperSport TV.
“I would like to tell many things. I would like to tell so many things. I told before the seven matches that it would be impossible to arrive in the end and have all the players in conditions to play the Champions League final.
“And I made an appeal inside the club that we could try to seduce the people responsible so that we could be in better conditions to play the final. It was not possible.
“Now we have to manage contacts and let’s see who will be able to play on the next and on the following one.”
