Cardoso – It Was Inhuman

Mamelodi Sundowns head coach Miguel Cardoso has insisted he cannot blame his players for their defeat to TS Galaxy, but rather the congested fixture schedule.

Masandawana went down 1-0 at Mbombela Stadium on Tuesday night, courtesy of a solitary goal by Kamogelo Sebelebele.

The loss came as a surprise after Sundowns had beaten title rivals Orlando Pirates on Saturday, but Cardoso insisted there wasn’t much left in the tank of his players.

“The market is finished, the players are our players. We have our squad, we’re happy with the players we have,” he said when asked whether he’d do any changes to his squad.

“We have players that are injured that are recovering, players that could not really participate that could be important.

“But we’re happy with the players we have, pretty happy. And again, I emphasize, the players gave their best today.

“It’s not a matter of not being on the limit, they were on the limit but they couldn’t do more.

“It was inhuman to play the fourth match in 72 hours.”

Equal to Sundowns, TS Galaxy also played their fourth match in nine days, with The Rockets beating Cape Town City, drawing with Polokwane City before two 1-0 wins over Chippa and Sundowns.
